Discover our history
The history of the Dellorusso family and its intense bond with the land has distant roots. We are at the beginning of 1900s and Paolo Dellorusso is known throughout the country for his resourcefulness, a quality that will soon lead him to become the best-known agricultural en-trepreneur in the area, a source of work and wealth for the whole small town of Mariotto.
Paolo’s passion and his gratitude for the land are enough to enchant his son Michele, a man dedicated to the land and with a brave character, who is always supported by his wife, who live on “bread and work”…

Indigenous cultivars are a heritage to be jealously preserved. They are the ones who tell the essence of our region and to faithfully report the stories of taste that have changed over the centuries.

The extra virgin olive oil of Frantoio Dellorusso IS born to pursue that idea of quality present in the cultivation of olive trees. A vision of guarantee that starts from the origin of the fruit, from that agriculture that is respectful of nature and from the knowledge of all the olives that will come “squeezed” on the table. A pact between us and you of traceability and genuineness of the product.

Our idea of quality starts from here and follows two key principles: cold extraction and har-vesting of olives according to a correct degree of ripeness. To these two indispensable factors are added a series of agronomic and technological processes, a practice that allows to create an ad hoc control process and to build a quality assurance path from the olive grove to the bottle.

In the middle of the night they roam among the olive groves, prepare their nets and warm their hands, rubbing them together. The sky changes color, it begins to dawn and the colors begin to take shape, from blue to purple to orange. The sun in all its power wobbles from the dark-ness the hanging branches, laden with green fruits. It is time to start.
Olive fishermen wander with their nets, gently. The vivacity of their voices mixes with the at-tention to the fruits and the awareness that they will soon become a perfumed extra virgin. They shake the branches and wait for the rapid rain of olives, then, loaded with their loot on their shoulders, they smile because there is no day more beautiful than the harvest one.
There is no day more beautiful than that of the olive harvest. All the care and attention that the olive trees receive during the year are released in a few months, from October to late Decem-ber, depending on the cultivars. The harvesting is a fundamental moment for us where an en-tire “family” composed of our team moves in unison for the success of the operation.

“Bitter land of mine”. You both love and have the Land. It is thanks to this passion that we de-cide to stay here, in Apulia, and cultivate, as our ancestors did centuries ago, but with a dif-ferent vision of respect for the land and for our future.
The land reserves us all a great potential, it is able to create perspectives and opportunities because it is firmly linked to the identity qualities of our country: food, landscape, history, tra-dition. The land gives not only fruits but very strong emotions.
